Can You Prevent Copy/Paste and Screen Captures from Skype for Business mobile devices?

SphereShield for Skype for Business does not directly prevent copying and pasting of sensitive information.

However, we offer two ways to prevent Data Leak from mobile devices:

MDM Integration

SphereShield for Skype for Business can be configured to only allow MDM/UEM/EMM managed devices to sign-in to Skype for Business.

On the MDM side, it could be configured that Skype for Business would not support copy/paste.

For example, this is the configuration in MobileIron:

  1. MobileIron is able to convert any unmanaged app on a device to a managed app. There is a setting, that the UEM admin needs to turn on, when he imports the app from the public app store into MobileIron (Core) – see screenshot below:
  2. If a user would install an app, that is in the MobileIron app catalog (App@Work) with this setting turned on, it will immediately be converted to a managed app, should the user install the app from the public app store.
  3. MobileIron is able to apply additional iOS restrictions (lockdown policies) to a group of managed iOS device – those policies apply to all managed apps in that group. See some example screenshots below, how we can prevent copy/paste or taking screenshots.

DLP Integration

SphereShield for Skype for Business could integrate with leading vendors of DLP solutions (Symantec, Forcepoint, Fidelis, McAffee, etc.) and block chat messages containing sensitive information to reach the mobile devices.

This way, there is no concern if the end-user was able  copy or capture the information as it was never on the device.
