Oracle ODBC Driver Installation Guide (Version 23c)

Download the following two packages from Oracle. Both are required for a functional ODBC setup:

• Instant Client Basic Light (Core libraries)

• Instant Client ODBC (ODBC specific files)

To ensure system stability, use a consistent directory path without spaces.

1. Create the folder: C:\Oracle\instantclient.

2. Extract the Basic Light ZIP into this folder.

3. Extract the ODBC ZIP into the same folder.

   • Note: The files must reside in the same directory level

Windows needs to know where the Oracle libraries are located to load them.

1. Search for "Edit the system environment variables" in the Start menu.

2. Click Environment Variables.

3. Under System Variables, find the Path variable and click Edit.

4. Click New and paste: C:\Oracle\instantclient.

5. Click OK on all windows to save.

You must register the driver with the Windows registry using administrative privileges.

1. Right-click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin).

2. Navigate to your folder:

   cd C:\Oracle\instantclient

3. Execute the installation script:

   odbc_install.exe

To confirm the installation was successful:

1. Open ODBC Data Sources (64-bit) from the Start menu.

2. Navigate to the Drivers tab.
