What are the different components of SphereShield for SfB?

When installing SkypeShield there are 5 potential components that are needed to be installed:

  • Access Portal Database – The Database stores the product configurations; it can be collocated with other Databases on the same server/Instance.
  • Access Portal Web Application – The Access Portal Web App is used to configure most of SkypeShield’s settings.
  • DMZ Bastion – A Bastion Reverse proxy server that is in the DMZ. This server will filter through the traffic and will execute blocks and restrictions.
  • Internal Bastion – A Bastion Reverse proxy server that is in the LAN network. This component will authenticate with the Lync/SfB Front Ends and the Exchange services
allowing the use of Dedicated credentials
  • SIP Filter – The SIP Filter is the active component that implements the configurations defined in the Database\Access Portal.
This component can be installed either on the Front End (for Internal & External Ethical wall support) or on the Edge (only External Ethical wall support).
