The SIP Filter is responsible for DLP integration, PC device registration, Ethical Wall capabilities and blocking NTLM authentication on the Edge (to force PC clients to go via the Web Services).


When the SIP Filter - the component that is on the Edge - starts it has to find a DB connection in order to start (which means that without the DB connection the service won't start).


The DB connection allows the SIP Filter to pull its basic configurations as well as more advanced Ethical Wall policy calculations.

The Connection between the SIP Filter and the Admin Portal Web Site over HTTP/HTTPS is also used for Ethical Wall policy calculation
