Extras - To Secure Copilot

Classifiers & Labels

Step 1

Over 300 different sensitive info type that we can go in, and discover the data in our environment like bank accounts, ID numbers credit card info, etc. We can create sensitive info type manually.

A mechanism to discover our data, by giving it a keyword (Ex: cache23).

Step 2

Create a label and set up all the encryption there. Only certain people will have access

Auto-labeling (when you start for example writing a new file that has the keyword (Cache23) it will automatically apply the label to it.

Data Loss Prevention

(To stop people sharing inside and Outside the organization)

  • We will create a policy, will target (Exchange Email, SharePoint, OneDrive)

  • A file or Email that has the word (cache23) or has a label (cache23)

  • YOU CAN STOP FROM SHARING OUTSIDE THE ORG

Data Lifecycle management

Important when we talk about Copilot interactions.

If you have old information sitting in your system and Copilot is asked about an old Project, which is outdated and no longer relevant. The Copilot will find the information and answer because it’s the only information he got.

That’s why Data lifecycle management is important. To retain the data that we need for as long as we need it and delete the data is not useful anymore.

A Policy for Copilot Interaction (Create Retention Policy)

  1. Static (Apply to the entire organization)

  2. Locations where to apply the policy (One important option is Teams Chats and Copilot interactions)

  3. Choose the period to keep the info. (Decide if you want to retain content, delete it, or both

Those questions and responses that the user have with Copilot and the returns are critical, we don’t want to keep that information in the user mailboxes for more than it's necessary.
