How to Configure MS Teams to use Forward Proxy on iOS?

1. Configuring Proxy Settings on the Device

Choose one of the following options to deploy proxy settings to the device

Ensure you’re using the latest AGAT PAC file format. Older formats are not supported by iOS.

WIFI Configuration

This option will only proxy traffic for individually configured WIFI networks and not globally on the device. Useful for testing.

Set the URL of your PAC file in Settings/Wifi/<Your Network>/Configure Proxy/Automatic.

 

MDM/Intune Supervised Device Deployment

If your device is Supervised, you can deploy global proxy settings which will be in effect regardless of which network the device is connected to.

This is recommended for Production deployments.

Custom App

The following steps guide through the configuration of the Forward Proxy in an iOS device.

  1. Go to the Apple Store, Downloads and Install the “Filter http proxy” app.

     Once installed, Open the App and In the Global settings -> Slide to the right the Enable option.

     2. In the upper right corner of the App, click on the “Plus” sign.

     3. Choose to Input Manually.

     4. In the Config Options slide the bar to the right to enable the feature.

     5. In the Network Options fill the following information:

         PAC URL: https://<yourpacfile>

      6. In the upper right corner click to Save the Options.

         Note: In the Config options the name as per your choosing, in order to identify this Proxy rule in case you have several rules configured. The “Description” field will be filled automatically.

     7. After Enabling the app, a VPN configuration Options will appear. The VPN must be enabled. No configuration is necessary after enabling the VPN.  



2. Install the root CA

A trusted root CA can be deployed by an MDM or manually.

Manual steps:

  1. Download the Root CA of the certificate used to sign the Bastion certificate.

  2. Save the certificate locally or on the cloud.

  3. Go to the file using Files App.

  4. Once opening the file an Install option will be presented in the upper right corner of the screen.

  5. Once Installed, go to settings->General->About-> Certificate Trust Settings.

  6. Slide the bar to the right to enable the “AGAT Software CA”.
